Last week, along with several of my McMullin Group colleagues, I attended a highly relevant and informative breakfast hosted by VCCI (Victorian Chamber of Commerce and Industry) to hear from cyber security professionals discussing the security challenges facing organisations today.
VCCI did an impressive job facilitating this breakfast, with an impeccable line-up of industry professionals speaking and on their panel discussion. Combined this panel offered exceptional credentials to educated the audience on what Australian companies are facing in the current cyber security environment.
The special guest speaker was Alastair MacGibbon, Special Adviser to the Prime Minister on the implementation of the Federal Government’s Cyber Security Strategy. He was then joined for the informative panel discussion by Brendon Taylor, Partner at Business Aspect, Michael Shatter, Director, Security and Privacy Services at RSM Australia and Matt O’Keefe, Technology Risk Partner at KMPG.
The audience was made up of a diverse range of businesses, ranging from large multi-national companies’ right through to small and medium sized enterprises.
As we heard, cyber security is unquestionably a real and present danger facing all organisations, regardless of their size. Through attending this event by VCCI, without doubt, we all took away great, practical advice around how our companies should be responding to this threat.
