Between the 19 and 23 September 2017 it was wonderful to see Timor come alive with 220 of the world’s most exciting mountain bike riders circuiting the country on a five day, five stage battle for mountain biking supremacy.
As a sponsor of the Tour De Timor I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to have been involved in some of the podium presentations.
Known as Asia’s most famous mountain bike race, The Tour de Timor is Timor-Leste’s flagship international sporting event. The five grueling days of racing covering almost 500 km, with 10,000 meters of climbs and vertical ascents of up to 37°, making it one of the world’s toughest endurance events.
A key focus, and achievement, of the 2017 race has been the inclusion of participants from every ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) nation, demonstrating Timor-Leste’s enthusiasm and preparedness for inclusion in ASEAN.
